Ways to Effectively Recycle

Many people don’t know this but more than half the people in the U.S. have the ability to take advantage of curbside recycling programs. Most people even have a recycling bin in their garage. All you have to do is place you items in the bins and out on the curb come garbage day. It’s that simple. Yet, many people aren’t doing that. Most of these places will take plastic, paper and glass, but only certain types. Accessing this information won’t be hard either.

Here are some helpful ways to effectively recycle.

Choose a spot in your home where you want the materials to go. If the bin is large, leave it in the garage. Most places will have on large bin and all the items will go in there. Otherwise, make sure you have enough room in your home to fit three to four containers.

To make it a little easier, sometimes it’s best to use large trash cans or boxes to hold your recyclables since they will get a bit heavy. Large trash cans are the best for recycling cans. Before you use the trash cans, put a large garbage bag in it. This will make transporting the cans to a recycling company 10 times easier on yourself.

To get organized it’s always good to organize your bins. Label them: plastic, paper, aluminum and cans, etc.

Also make sure you have a smaller plastic bang in your kitchen where you can store all your grocery bags in. Most grocery stores offer a recycle program for their plastic bags. Another step would be to purchase a few reusable bags that you use when grocery shopping or going to stores. Reusable bags are becoming all the rage and a lot of stores offer them for free or just $1.

Recycling is important and it won’t cost you anything to do it. Help your environment by recycling your items.

Ways To Reduce, Reuse & Recycle!

When you were in school do you remember the saying people would have when it came to recycling? Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. Recycling is important and sadly not enough people are doing what they can to help save the environment.

Did you know that many recycling groups and companies still uses those three little words to grab your attention? They represent how people handle their garbage, and let’s face it, that’s a huge problem going on right now. Too many people are being wasteful. Here are ways you can take those three words to help our environment.

Starting with Reduce. Try and minimize the amount of garbage your throwing away by being a more responsible shopper. If you’re thinking about buying two items that are similar, pick the one that has less packaging.

Another option is to cut down on the concentrated laundry and dish soap. Using the smaller bottles as opposed to the bigger. Did you know the bigger bottles are just watered down? So you’re not really saving any money buy purchasing the big bottles. You’re just hurting the environment.

Reuse. Instead of throwing away containers, try and reuse them. Instead of buying plastic cups, use regular cups that you can rewash. This goes for plastic silverware and plates. If possible buy items that are rechargeable. For example, rechargeable batteries are amazing.

If an item is broke, don’t just throw it away. You’d be surprised at how easy it is to fix broken items, especially if the item is just lightly damaged.

Recycle. Recycle as much as you possibly can. Most people should have recycle bins in their garage so use them. When you recycle you’re taking what is normally a wasteful item and making it useful again. Buying recyclable items will make recycling even easier for you.

It’s important to do what you can to help save your environment. It doesn’t take a lot of extra time and it won’t cost you anything.
