A lot of people don’t know how to do a back up of their computer. It’s so easy and completely automated for people now, with new programs doing all the work for us. Wizards allow us to click a “Next” button until it says “Finished.” 

It’s as easy as plugging in a USB plug. Multiple hard drives can be used for different kinds of files on a single computer, where more than one drive can be used at a time. 

Getting enough space to back up the entire systemis essential – get all the information on one drive by getting one with ample room for what is there. A terra-drive is recommended; with an entire terrabyte to transfer the back up to, nothing is going to be lost and there’s room for everything. 

Use a Different Drive for Different File Types 

A photographer in Oregon uses his terra-drives to store his photos and he has several of them. One is for sceneries, one is for portraits, another is for animals, another is for journalistic or artistic shots, one is for his family photos and the last one is for his computer back up. 

Each one sits next to the other on a shelf above his desk with a hub connecting them all together and to his pc at the same time.
Many of the new solitary hard drives come with software to help someone back up their computer onto them, and it’s a matter of clicking a button to get it done. It’s so easy now, nobody has an excuse for not doing it. Our advice? Just do it.

FTC Comes Down Hard on Internet Company

Don’t you hate companies that deceive people to make a little money? Companies that misrepresent themselves to trick the consumer into thinking they’re getting one thing, when they’re actually getting another? We hate ‘em.

 

So does the FTC. The agency recently agreed to a settlement that put the brakes on a US company who paraded itself as a UK company, using a website that ended in ‘co.uk.’ 

The commission says the company made customers believe it was in the UK to get sales, and then the customers were charged unexpected import duty fees and were threatened with refunding fees if people wanted to return the product. 

Truth in Advertising is a Law, not a Choice 

Internet marketer Jaivin Karnani who owns Balls of Kryptonite and several associated businesses sold electronic goods to thousands of UK residents, who thought they were protectedunder the manufacturer’s warranties that were invalid. 

Some of the sites they own are bitesizedeals.co.uk, bestpricebrands.co.uk and crazy cameras.co.uk but none of them are operated in the United Kingdom. 

The defendants advertised fast shipping dates but didn’t come through by not sending the product, or by not sending the products when they said they would. Those few who did manage to get refunds met with stiff opposition and waited long times to receive the refunds. 

The FTC also banned the company from selling items it doesn’t have in hand at the time the order is placed. It’s a good thing we have the FTC and the UK’s OTC to keep an eye on cyber criminals who want to rip people off to make a buck.

In 2007 alone, 30 percent of televisions that were broken, 40 percent of cell phones not being used anymore and 20 percent of old and unused computers were thrown out in the garbage. This means that millions and millions of old electronics are sitting in the landfills instead of being recycled like they should be. All these electronics in the landfills is horrible for the environment.

Starting a Plastic Recycling Company

Many students can easily start their own recycling program at their school or anywhere. Each recycling company will have a different policy when it comes to what plastic materials they can take. Starting a plastic recycling company can really help make a difference with your local recycling company.

Before anything, find a local recycling company that will take plastics and if they pay. Try and get all the information needed to make sure they will take what you’re items. For example, make sure you know what kind of plastics they will take. Take note of what each company’s collection service and locations where you can drop off the recyclable items.

Next, create a proposal that will detail all the information about the recycling program that you’re looking to start. It would be best to include the types of plastics you’re able to take. People will want to know this information ahead of time or you will end up with items that you can’t even recycle.

Set up a time to speak with the manager of the facility you wish to work with on your recycling program. Give that personal a copy of the handout and let them know what information you’ve done on that company. Ask if they can offer to pay for or donate the bins and floor space needed start your plastic recycling company. Many companies will offer assistance, especially if you’re a student.

With social media companies, it is a given that a lot of the personal information you put up online is public information. From your friends to your employer, everyone has access to it and if you are not careful, your whole life stands to become public information. Due to the recent problems with personal security, several of the social network sites have taken additional measures to secure at least some of this personal data. These media companies will hold on to the data for some time and then hire a recycling company to take care of and destroy the data.

A social media company like Facebook gives their users options to secure their personal information by limiting who can review the information you have uploaded and how it is used. If your data is open and public, you become one of the targets for their marketing scheme. Let’s be honest, recycling data management is not something which is uppermost in many of our minds is it? Many of us have become experts at creating new data without even knowing that we are doing it, and the thought of recycling it never occurs to us. We don’t even think about it, that every time we sit at our computers and create a file, duplicate an existing file or even email a file to our friends and colleagues, this all creates new data in the process. With the much increased network speeds it is now even easier to go on creating duplicate data all over the place.

So what’s the problem? Well, let me tell you, if we don’t dispose of our unwanted data correctly, it either ends up being released into the atmosphere or is stored in land and sea fill sites. That’s right, pressing the delete button and sending old files to the recycle bin is not a solution to this growing problem. It’s time to act and start recycling data management and do your bit for the environment.

What Harm Can It Cause?

Recycling data management is becoming increasingly important. Generally, unwanted data is dispelled into the atmosphere from the rear of the computer using a fan, or a static charge in the case of some new models.
